Being Creative

Find something creative you can do to boost your mood

Be creative to keep mentally fit

Being creative is a great way to keep mentally fit. Being absorbed in something that you really enjoy and ‘making something’ requires your full attention. It means that any over-thinking or anxiety has to take a back seat. It can give you a really positive break from any negative thought patterns you might be having. And it offers you the potential to feel satisfied and accomplished in a way that normal everyday life might not.

How to get going

You may feel that this doesn’t apply to you but creativity comes in all shapes and sizes. It might be drawing or doodling. It could be writing or playing an instrument but it could also be cooking or taking photographs on your phone; making small videos or looking after your houseplants.

Everybody has the potential to be creative and it’s important to think about that part of you. What might you like to do that you haven’t found time for up till now? It may be the thing that offers you a new, more positive mindset and gets you to your A game quicker.
